Tags
I haven't been very responsive on tags that I've received in e-mail, on Blogger or on Facebook. I have saved a list of the questions I've received though. I love to read other people who answer the questions and learn about them. So, to get this blog moving a bit I thought that I'd start answering some of the tags I've received. I think it will help give me something to write about and be fun! :) Most people I know have already done these kinds of tags a million times so I won't pass them on unless you'd like to, of course.

Writing Challenge Results
I feel like I have been working hard at my first challenge with Tristi's Challenges this month. I'm still unsure if I really have all the grit I think it takes to be a writer but I plunged into it and kept at it. Some days were off and others were so full of words, I couldn't believe it! I wrote wildly in spite of how busy April turned out to be with my birthday and anniversary being during that month also. In fact, that may have helped me plan my time a bit better.
My own personal goal, though I didn't mention it but to myself, was to write 8,000 words. I surprised myself by cranking out 9,443 to end my challenge with. I wrote 3 poems and 5 stories. The only thing I didn't get finished is a first draft manuscript but I do have some concrete ideas to work on. I do have parts of stories, scenes, ideas that I hope to turn into manuscripts eventually. I learned a lot about myself in this month in that I think part of my problem is concentrating and finishing just one idea. It's definitely something to work on. I do have an idea that has generated excitement within me and I think I'll take advantage of that and see what I can do with that energy in the coming months. Perhaps, that one idea will help me learn to focus as I mentioned above and to work on that within myself.
I look forward to another challenge, perhaps in July. I'll keep you informed.
Now, I'll probably get going on some of my other hobbies and as always I have a lot of reading to do.

Nearing the end of April
As the end of April is coming, I've been writing away this month. I'll be posting how I did at the end of this week. I hope to complete Tristi's challenge with some concrete material to work on and work with in writing. So far it's been going well, for my first attempt at this, I think. Through writing, I feel I'm creating and that's so cool!

Update on my '09 goals and a writing challenge
So far on some of my '09 goals, I'm right on track but on others I'm way off. First, I'll concentrate on where I'm going right and then I'll discover where to improve next. I'm planning on reading 25 books overall and so far I've read and reviewed six books. I feel this is going great! I also have a few extra books that I read in February, since that was a huge reading month for me, that I'll be counting in as I review them on 5-squared.
My next goal that I'm on task for is writing poetry. I'm planning on 10 poems and I've written three so I'm staying strong with that. I feel it will come and I'm making sure to write down the bits and pieces of inspiration that come which I can later create into a poem.
Here's my discovery part of my goals given the fact I need a lot of improvement in my next few goals of '09. I'm behind on two of my stories to my sister which I'm going to remedy in the next three days and send them to her. I haven't been working on conversational Spanish like I had hoped with my children so I may give that up for now. I have walked some but not every day like I should be. Although, I have read my scriptures here and there, I'm behind on the actual lessons for Sunday School but I'm not ready to give up here. I do have excuses, perhaps even valid ones, for my lacking to do what I intended but who doesn't? I'm ready to do better and I will eventually.
Lastly, I'm going to put a lot of things on hold and concentrate on Tristi's Writing Challenge in April. I plan to wildly write as much as I can. I plan to write a series of short stories. I plan to write a first draft down that I'm aiming to be a novel. Of course, I'll still add to my poetry & three more poems would be great too. I'm not getting any younger and I do have writing that I dream of doing but I'd like to make that more of a reality now. This will be my first writing challenge ever! I'm looking forward to it and I know this excitement will carry me thru to the end of April.....and beyond!
I'll keep updates on this challenge here.
