j-flamingo reflections

Inspired by the grace and beauty of the flamingo, my life reflected by my love of reading, writing and creating.

A Quote to Remember

Recently, I reviewed Can't Wait to get to Heaven by Fannie Flagg and I remembered after I wrote up the review that I wanted to add this quote from the book to my list. Then I thought it really belonged on this blog so I'll type it up here. I think you'll see why. :)

A little while later, when Dorothy and Elner were outside on the front
porch having their coffee and cake, Elner sat looking out, amazed at the sight
before her. While she had been inside talking to Ernest, the sky had
turned an exquisite shade of aqua, a color Elner had never seen before in her
life, and the entire front yard was filled with flocks of beautiful pink
flamingos. Large blue swans with bright yellow eyes swam around her in a
pond that wound all around the house, while hundreds of multicolored birds flew
overhead. Elner said, "Don't you just love birds?"

"I do."

pg. 157, Paperback-Ballantine Books

Here's another quote I'd like to remember that the author shared at the very beginning of this book right before the first chapter:

There are two ways to live your life.
One is as though nothing is a miracle.
The other is as though everything is a miracle.

~Albert Einstein

She is pure Alice in Wonderland, and her appearance and demeanor are a nicely judged mix of the Red Queen and a flamingo.
